1. What's smsTunes™?

smsTunes™ is a music entertaining service that enables you to have a playlist of your favorite songs in one place, with links to relevant information like lyrics , short song samples , videos , karaokes , artist information, ringtones , and online music stores . It integrates nicely with most popular US radio stations by allowing you to add the song playing on the radio to your song list by sending a text message from your mobile, you don't even have to know the name of the song!

2. What kind of content can I create and share at smsTunes™?

In addition to your songs playlist, you can create karaokes for most songs on our database by using your browser to sync artist voice and lyrics in 3 easy and fun steps. Later, you and other users can play and sing the karaoke you just created and enjoy an online karaoke experience without installing any additional software, just using the browser. If you are on the mud, you can record yourself singing with your webcam, and your video will be uploaded and shared automatically at YouTube.com and smsTunes™.

3. What does smsTunes™ stand for?

SMS stands for Short Messaging Service, it's also known as text messaging, but if you'd like to make the first S stand for "song", we won't tell. One of the special features on smsTunes™ is it's text message integration with FM radio stations, so smsTunes™ name sounded like a nice fit.

1. How much does it cost?

smsTunes™ is not charging users for any services at this time. However, when you are adding songs playing on the radio to your playlist by sending text messages, standard carrier rates for text messages still apply.

2. How can I add a song playing on the radio to my song list?

You have to enable the radio service first and then send a text message containing just the radio station frequency you are listening (ex: 973) every time you want to add a song to your list, click here for details.

3. Does it work for all radio stations?

We have support for more than 2000 FM radio stations in the US, just try it out, you will receive a text message back if the radio station you are listening is not covered.

4. I added a song, but is not appearing on my song list

It usually takes from 5 to 15 minutes for a radio song to be added to your list. However, the song identification process is not 100% accurate, that's why sometimes the song is never added.

5. I have free messages through my mobile phone plan. Can I use them for smsTunes™?

Yes, you can. Please note that the smsTunes™ messages you send and the messages you receive will each count towards your SMS message total.

1. How can I add a song to my song list without using FM radio services?

You can use the Add song now option located on the top of your song list page, on the main radio page, and on the search result page. Also, you can share a song you find on another member song list with yourself, just enter your user name as the target.

2. How do I change the lyrics and video attached to a song?

If you want to select another video from YouTube.com, click on the icon and select Change Video. If you want to select a video or lyrics that are hosted on other websites, click on the icon and select Set my own content, paste the internet address (http://...) on the corresponding edit box and hit submit.

3. Why I can't find the song I'm looking for using the smsTunes™ search functionality?

Currently we only search the songs available on the smsTunes™ song database which contains all the songs on all member song lists. Remember that you can always add the song you are looking for to your list using option #1 above.

1. What is an smsTunes™ karaoke?

An smsTunes™ karaoke is composed by the lyrics, the video, and the syncing information between the lyrics and the singer voice. Our service usually can retrieve the lyrics and video automatically by using other internet services, but the syncing process have to be done by our members.

Once the syncing process is completed for a song, you and other members can have a much better singing experience, similar to a home karaoke, but without the hassle of buying equipments or installing any software.

2. How can I create a karaoke for a song?

First, locate the song by either searching for it or by adding it yourself to your song list. If the song row contains the icon, it means that someone already created the karaoke for it. If the song row contains the icon, it means that lyrics and video are available for you to start the lyrics syncing process and complete the karaoke. Just click on the icon and on the next page click the Create Karaoke link on the top and follow the instructions.

3. How can I record and share a video of myself singing, dancing or lips-syncing a karaoke?

First, you need to have your webcam connected and working properly. Then, locate a song on any member song list with a black mic Icon or a yellow mic Icon . The yellow icon offers a real kareoke experience by syncing the lyrics on the screen with the artist voice.

Once you click on the icon, on the next page click the Play link to start the video and then click the Record Yourself link to avtivate the webcam display. When you are ready to start the recording process, click the Record button on the webcam display and then click Finish to submit your video.

4. Why my karaoke is not listed on the main karaoke page?

When you complete your karaoke it is published automatically with a rating of 4 and will be listed on the main karaoke page. If the community start rating it and the overall rating falls under 3, it will be removed from that page.

1. How can I contact another member?

Click on the member picture and then click on the Send me a Message link.

2. How can I send a voice message or a phone call request to another member?

Currently, that functionality is only available to the users of the free smsTunes™ windows mobile smartphone application. However, you can reply to a voice message with a regular message and they will receive your answer on their mobiles.

3. Is there any other way to interact with members?

You can visit our forums, yes, we know there's not much activity now, but someday someone will  start a conversation right? may be you? ;-). Depending on users demand, we will add a chat as well.
